Part 1 gives you the basics — detailed ideas on how to share yoga with kids in an effective and FUN way. As one participant told me, “This is my yoga bible.” Part 1 serves as a base for the other parts.

“I enjoyed the ability to ask questions at any time. I felt it was great for discussions and allowed others to share their point of view. I thought the handouts were well done and informative. I enjoyed the experiential side of it, because I am a mover and really wanted to explore the yoga poses as if I was a child.”

— Natalie Bargholz

“I thought the materials were wonderful and the instruction right on.” — Trisha Walker

Why GreenTREE?

  1. This kids' yoga teacher training is based on the diverse educational materials and programs that GreenTREE Yoga has developed for kids' and teens' yoga: including classroom yoga, special needs yoga, yoga for autism, family yoga, and trauma-sensitive yoga.

  2. GreenTREE Yoga kids' programs are supported by the Utah PTA, Gold Medal Schools, The Utah State Office of Education, and the Utah Afterschool Network.

  3. The instructors are actively teaching and developing educational materials.

  • Yael Calhoun, E-RTY, RCYT, MA, MS, has been an author and educator for over 30 years, having taught preschool through college. She is the author of several books on kids/teen yoga and several cds/dvds for kids, and training kits for schools, special needs children, and children with trauma. She has developed kids' (K-12) yoga trainings for the Utah State Office of Education, Utah PTA Annual Conferences, Gold Medal Schools Annual Conferences, Jumpstart Afterschool Conferences, Utah Autism Council, and the Salt Lake, Alpine, and Granite School districts, UAPHERD Annual Conferences, and others. Yael is also certified in trauma-sensitive yoga (Trauma Justice Institute). She is also a registered children's yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance, in addition to an E-RTY. One of Yael's Master's degrees is in Early Childhood Education.

  • Nicole Hamory Cavallaro is a 500 hour D'ana Baptiste certified yoga teacher, a GreenTREE Yoga co-founder and presenter at many state/district conferences. Nicole also co-wrote two books on yoga for teens (listed at the end) and currently teaches Health and Yoga at Paradigm Charter School. She has taught at-risk youth for many years. There is not a more talented or delightful teacher of teen yoga in Salt Lake (says Yael and many others)!
